The Chrysler Viper GTS-Rs are some of the most successful GT race cars ever built, having won at Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring, FIA-GT, ALMS and many national championships in more than 5 years of domination!
In 2001 Chrysler decided to build a new race car, the “Competition Coupe” to compete in a newly created Viper Challenge Championship in 2003.
In 2006, the car received homologation from the FIA to compete in the GT3 class and immediately revealed its speed. In the meantime Oreca thought the GT3 would be a great basis to build a very competitive GT2 car but Dodge was not interested with getting involved in the project.
However, Oreca was asked by Racing Box (Famed and successful Italian racing team) to design and build two GT2s to be raced in GT Open in 2007. After a lot of work on re-engineering the GT3, Oreca built two cars between January and March 2007. The light GT2 has a reinforced chassis, engine and driveline lower and further set back, dry sump, inconel exhaust headers, Hollinger sequential gearbox, uprated springs, Moton shocks, Quaife differential, pedal box with adjustable bias, Magnetti-Marelli engine management, full flat carbon floors, carbon diffuser and many other extras.
The cars were debuted in GT Open and were much quicker than the GT3 cars, unfortunately due to a sponsor defection, the cars weren’t raced after the second round and put into storage.
The two cars were sold in 2008 to a Dutch team to be raced in the Dutch Supercar Challenge and were extremely quick. In 2011 the Viper GT2 won the championship and in the process outperformed three Corvette GT1s plus Ferrari and Porsche GT2.
This car is chassis VCC C70. It has received a complete rebuild with an unrestricted engine, upgraded in UK by Janspeed to 640HP. The gearbox, diff, driveshafts, suspension, brakes, electronics, dry sump oil system, were also rebuilt and the car has only done a two hours run in and test session since. It is ready to race with full lifetime on mechanical components.
This wonderful Viper GT2 is a great opportunity to purchase and race a fully Oreca designed and built car which only requires a fraction of the maintenance cost of a Ferrari, Porsche or other GT2s whilst offering superior performance.
